Alessandro Daffina

Alessandro Daffina is Chief Executive Officer of Rothschild Italy, Member of the Board for Rothschild Spain and Chairman of Financial Institutions of the Rothschild Group. Following experience in the investment banking divisions of UBS London and Esso, Alessandro joined Rothschild in 1992 and went on to become Partner of Rothschild Group and member of the Management Committee of Rothschild Global Advisory. Throughout his professional career, Alessandro has advised governments, state owned enterprises, financial institutions, financial sponsors and private corporates on privatisation, M&A transactions, IPOs, restructuring and public takeovers. He has driven some of the most significant transactions in Southern Europe including Advising the Extraordinary Commissioners of Alitalia in its disposal process as well as being a top advisor to ChemChina, ENI, SNAM, Allianz Capital Partners, UniCredit, Intesa SanPaolo, BNL and BNP Paribas, amongst others. As board member of the non-profit organisation the Italian Student Loan Fund, Alessandro helps to provide financing to Italian students wishing to pursue a post-graduate education in the USA. He holds a degree Cum Laude in economics from the La Sapienza University in Rome and an MBA from the Stern School of Business, New York University (NYU).

Ali Goutali

His Excellency Ali Goutali has been a career diplomat for 37 years and has had the honour of being Ambassador Plenipotentiary and Extraordinary (Ministre Plenipotentaire Hors Classe) for over 20 years. He is currently the head of the Palestine and Al Quds (Jerusalem) department at the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). Having completed diplomatic training at the Vienna Diplomatic Academy and the Tunisian National Civil Service Institute, Ambassador Goutali also completed a training programme in the USA on decision making in US foreign policy. Past posts held include Tunisian Ambassador to Russia and Ukraine, Argentina, Chile and Uruguay South Africa, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Botswana, Mauritius, Malawi, Lesotho, Swaziland, Mozambique, Zambia and Angola. Author of many publications and academic studies Ambassador Goutali has also lectured in both his home nation and abroad on topics relating to International Relations and World Politics. Patron, founder, co-founder and member of various trusts, associations, clubs and forums Ambassador Goutali is also holder of numerous national and foreign decorations and awards including, the Tunisian Order of the Republic, the French National Merit Order, the Grand Cruz (highest distinction) of the Order of Independence of Argentina and the Merit Insignia of the Russian Federation. Ambassador Goutali holds a Master’s degree in linguists and translation as well as a Master’s degree in Political Science.

Daniele G. Discepolo

Daniele G. Discepolo is an expert lawyer qualified to plead before the Italian appellate court the Court of Cassation. In his long and distinguished legal career, he has been a solicitor, barrister and legal prosecutor. Currently Vice President of the Board of Directors of Immsi S.p.A. a public holding company, Daniele is also Lead Independent Director and President of the Audit Committee. Other illustrious positions undertaken have included Managing Director of several companies and firms listed on the Stock Exchange, Member of the Board of Directors of numerous banks including Monte de Paschi di Siena, and listed companies as Chairman and a member of the Board of Statutory Auditors, President of Supervisory Boards, Control Committees and other Governance structures. Among the other offices and in addition to his responsibilities in Immsi, Daniele is currently a Member of the Board of Artemide S.p.A. (lighting systems), of Manucor S.p.A. (chemical processing), Truestar S.p.A. (plastic luggage wrapping systems). He is also the Chairman of the Board of Statutory Auditors of Mermec S.p.A. (railway control systems) and of Pianoforte Holding S.p.A. (Yamamay and Carpisa) On a final note Daniele is statutory auditor of Sorgenia S.p.A. an Energy Company and of the Investment Holding Companies Manzoni S.r.l. and Melville S.r.l.

Dr B.R. Shetty

Dr B.R. Shetty is the Joint Non-Executive Chairman of NMC Healthcare the UAE’s largest private sector healthcare provider. Dr Shetty’s other business activities include UAE Exchange, a leading global money transfer and foreign exchange provider, of which he is Founder and Chairman, and investments in hospitality, food and beverage, pharmaceutical manufacturing and real estate. Dr Shetty received the Order of Abu Dhabi in 2005, the country’s highest civilian award, for contribution to the development of the community and the cause of the Emirate, as well as the Padma Shri Award from the Government of India in January 2009. In addition to his business activities, Dr Shetty is involved in several philanthropic causes. He has supported the development of a medical institution in the north Indian state of Uttaranchal and is the founder and patron of the Indian Pharmaceutical Association in the UAE. He is a member of the Advisory Board of the Dubai Economic Department’s Financial Sector, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Indian School, Founder and Vice President of the Swiss Business Council, and Founder of the Australian Business Council, the Canadian Business Council, the Netherlands Business Group and the Philippines Business Council. Dr Shetty is also a member of the Executive Panel of Dubai’s Pharmaceutical and Health Equipment Trading Business Group under the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry Dr B. R. Shetty holds a Doctorate from Georgia State University, Atlanta, USA and attended the Harvard Business School Owner/President Management Programme. He is also a member of the International Advisory Board of Boston University, USA.

Ambassador Azouz Ennifar

Ambassador Azouz Ennifar is a career diplomat with the Tunisian Foreign Service and joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1967. Having left Tunisia’s Foreign Service to join the United Nations he held the rank of Minister Plenipotentiary Hors Classe. Over his decades long career, Ambassador Ennifar has carried out diplomatic missions in the USA, Canada, Paris, Japan, Indonesia Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Brazil, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Italy holding a myriad of high level posts such as Assistant to the Director for Political Affairs in Washington D.C., Trade Commissioner in Canada; Minister for Economic Affairs at the Tunisian Embassy in Paris where he also served as Chargé d’Affaires ad interim before holding the post of Tunisian Ambassador to Brazil, the USA, Mexico, Venezuela and Italy. Foreign Ministry’s Diplomatic Institute for Training and Studies before being appointed, in April Ambassador Ennifar was appointed by the United Nations Secretary-General as Deputy Special Representative for the UN Mission in Ethiopia and Eritrea (UNMEE). There followed a spell as Acting Special Representative (SRSG) in UNMEE as Under Secretary-General. He was appointed Deputy AU/UN Joint Chief Mediator for Darfur and left his UN missions in March 2011 to become CEO of Setcar International Trading. Ambassador Ennifar was honoured to have been nominated as Secretary General of the Joint Italian Arab Chamber in Rome (JIAC) by the Council of the Union of Arab Chamber. He holds a degree in DES from the Institut d’Etude des Relations Internationales (Paris) where he completed a Master’s thesis on Tunisia’s foreign trade and is author of several studies including an extensive comparative study of policies and investment conditions in the Maghreb countries, for the Arab Economic Unity Council. Ambassador Ennifar is Commander of the Order of the Tunisian Republic and recipient of foreign national decorations from a number of countries in which he served, including the ‘Grande Ufficiale nell’Ordine Al Merito della Repubblica Italiana’ honour.

Federico Ghizzoni

Federico Ghizzoni is Chairman of Rothschild & Co Italy and Executive Vice Chairman of Clessidra SGR the largest private equity fund in Italy. Among his other positions, Federico is also Board Member of Bocconi University, Nexi SpA, Pellegrini SpA, Castello Immobiliare SGR and is member of the Advisory Board of Van Lanschot Kempen Bank – Netherland and Afiniti Ltd USA. Past positions held include those of Chief Exectuive Officer of UniCredit Group and Chairman of UniCredit AG Germany. Having started his career with Credito Italiano in Piacenza, Federico rapidly held several positions of increasing responsibility within the group; at first in Italy and consequently in the UK, Singapore, Poland and Turkey, until being appointed Head of UniCredit Central Eastern Europe Banking Division and Deputy CEO at Bank Austria AG. From From 2010 to 2016 he was Chairman of the Filarmonica della Scala Orchestra. Award received include the title of “Ufficiale dell’Ordine al Merito of the Italian Republic” in 2016 and the title of “Cavaliere del Lavoro of the Italian Republic in 2014. Federico Ghizzoni holds a Law Degree Cum Luade from the University of Parma.

Masroor Haq

Masroor Haq has over 25 years of International Banking experience in Banks Management, Corporate Banking, Investment Banking, Infrastructure Finance, Project and Structured Finance and Treasury Business in emerging and developed economies. He has held senior positions such as Head of Investment Banking, CEO and Head of Infrastructures with top international banks such as Citigroup, ABN AMMRO, Merrill Lynch International and advised on sovereign and infrastructure projects as well as pension funds for corporate and public sector clients. Masroor is currently Managing Director and International Head of Infrastructure Capital and Project Finance at VTB Capital PLC the second largest Russian Financial Group with over USD 240 billion in assets. Past posts include CEO of VTB Capital PLC Middle East and Africa as well as Head of European acquisitions for ABN AMBRO bank London and member of the Infrastructure Capital team of Merrill Lynch International London. Masroor holds BSc in Computer Science, a Masters Degree in Business Administration and attended the Harvard Business School Exec Program for Entrepreneurship and Capital Raisings.

Sheikh Ibrahim Abdulgafar Jameel Jamjoom

Before taking full control of the Jamjoom Group of companies in 2014, Ibrahim Jamjoom held the position of Executive Vice-President and Co-Chairman of Jamjoom Group Saudi Arabia, a position he used to develop the family business to the extent that he was able to bring its ranking from 48 to 23 in the index of the top 100 Saudi Arabian companies. As CEO and President of Jamjoom Wescom, Ibrahim Jamjoom has expanded and strengthened partnerships with such companies as WESCON (Holland); UOP (USA); General Electric (USA); Honeywell (USA) and VFF (Germany). Other positions held include Chairman of UMSSA Saudi Arabia; CEO of NSRE Al Jazira contracting; Chairman of Gulf Contracting as well interests in Egypt and Oman. Ibrahim Jamjoom is shareholder and Board Director of the Saudi American General Electric (SAMGE) and holds a Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Central Florida – USA

Ambassador Jean-Paul Tarud Kuborn

His Excellency Ambassador Jean-Paul Tarud Kuborn was the Chilean Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates from 2009 to 2018, before taking up the position of Dean of the UAE Diplomatic Corps. During his tenure as Ambassador to the UAE, his mission also covered the GCC Nations, Pakistan and Yemen. Ambassador Tarud is one of Chile’s leading experts in Middle East Affairs and has advised the Interior and Foreign Ministries of Chile on many issues, including Counter Terrorism, National Security, Defence, International Policy, Conflict Resolution and Human Rights. Ambassador Tarud also headed 14 UAE investment and trade delegations to Chile whilst head of the Chilean Diplomatic Mission in the UAE and facilitated major investments and purchases between the private sector and government entities. Ambassador Tarud has also represented Chile at multilateral institutions such as IRENA ASPA, Regional OECD summits, the Word Economic Forum, the Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty and various security, defence and trade summits. His current interests are now concentrated upon fostering innovation within research and technology development. To this end Ambassador Tarud created the first Investment and Innovation Delegation that is aimed at developing cutting edge technologies and patents from micro-conductors to advanced nanotechnologies in fields such as defence, education, medicine and space exploration. He holds an MBA from the Paris Business School (ESCP), a Post Graduate Diploma in International business and B. Comm. in Management and Political Science from the University of Canberra

Stephen Hayes

Stephen Hayes is the President Emeritus of the Corporate Council on Africa, the leading US organization on US-Africa economic relations. Stephen is the only American to have be awarded two of the US Government's highest honours for business leadership. In 2008 he was presented the US Department of Commerce's highest award, the Ron Brown Award for International Leadership, while in 2015 the Corporate Council on Africa, under his leadership, was awarded the President's "E" Award for Excellence in International Business. The award was initiated by President John Kennedy. Stephen Hayes has received numerous international awards, and has extensive experience in the countries of the former Soviet Union, China and Vietnam, and, of course, Africa.
